Jonathan These were tangentially inspired by a restaurant in Clearwater, Florida, which served a mixed chip basket of roots -- sweet potato chips, beets, parsnips, carrots, and turnips. But they didn't do the cheese -- nothing like adding cheese!

Olga I've used a pot with vegetable or peanut oil. You don't have the temperature control, but if you're careful, you don't need to be exactly at 350. Just keep an eye on them because they can overcook.

Peter I love simple grilled lamb with nothing to hide the taste! I like it in other things, too, of course, but man, grilled lamb....

Nuria Thanks! It's very useful, but it's definitely drawn more blood from me than my chef's knife. Gotta be careful with it.

I just LOVE your sweet potatoe chips! And the lamb looks gorgeous :D

I should be buying a mandoline soon. It's such a useful kitchen object.

Poor Christey! That sucks. but i'm sure this delicious dinner cheered her right up! You just reminded me of an amazing side dish I ate in Napa, Cali... homemade chips with melted bleu cheese on them. sinful and delish. these look a bit more healthy. i love sweet potato chips!
